Mexican Weddings at 440 Elm for up to 400

Mexican weddings celebrate the vibrant, colorful heritage that is expressed in traditional Mexican weddings. There is color, there is music, there is dancing, and of course there is food.

In many cases, the actual wedding ceremony often occurs in a Catholic church or cathedral at a traditional wedding mass. If that is not a requirement, we're also happy to suggest alternate officiants who can even be Catholic priests who can bring a similar (if not official) feel to a ceremony in our venue.

A cocktail hour can include live chef stations in our outdoor plaza with tortillas, gorditas, sopas, tacos, and more! Indoors, there is plenty of room for dancing and the sweet notes of a mariachi band can really get the crowd moving!

Celebrating Love the Mexican Way: Unique Elements of Mexican Weddings

When it comes to weddings, few cultures can match the vibrancy and richness of Mexican traditions. Steeped in history and brimming with color, Mexican weddings are a beautiful tapestry of rituals that celebrate love, family, and heritage. From symbolic ceremonies to lively receptions, here’s a closer look at the unique elements that make Mexican weddings truly unforgettable.

  • El Lazo: The Unbreakable Bond: One of the most distinctive features of a Mexican wedding is the “El Lazo” ceremony. During the nuptial mass, a large looped rosary or silk cord is placed around the necks or shoulders of the bride and groom, forming a figure-eight. This lasso symbolizes the couple’s eternal unity and commitment to each other. Often passed down through generations, the lasso serves as a tangible link between the past and the future, binding families together.
  • Las Arras Matrimoniales: The 13 Gold Coins: Another profound tradition is the exchange of “Las Arras Matrimoniales,” or wedding coins. The groom presents the bride with 13 gold coins, representing Christ and his 12 apostles, as a pledge to provide for the family. The bride accepts them, signifying her trust and confidence in his promise. This ritual underscores the importance of mutual support and shared responsibility in marriage.
  • Mariachi Magic: Music that Moves the Soul: No Mexican wedding is complete without the soulful strains of a Mariachi band. Clad in traditional “charro” suits, these musicians infuse the celebration with lively tunes and heartfelt ballads. From serenading the couple during the ceremony to igniting the dance floor at the reception, Mariachi music adds an authentic touch that resonates with guests of all ages.
  • La Vibora de la Mar: The Sea Snake Dance: Get ready to join the fun with “La Vibora de la Mar,” a playful and energetic dance that brings everyone to their feet. The bride and groom stand on chairs holding hands to form an arch, while guests snake beneath them in a conga line to the rhythm of upbeat music. This dance symbolizes the couple’s ability to overcome obstacles together and is a highlight that fills the room with laughter and joy.
